Individual counselling

What is counselling?

Counselling is a talking-therapy that allows a person to share and discuss their problems and feelings in a confidential, non-judgemental and dependable environment. As a counsellor, I'm trained to listen in an empathic manner by putting myself in your shoes. I will help and support you on a one to one basis helping you address and overcome any negative thoughts and feelings you have. Counselling helps you to explore your feelings, beliefs, or behaviours by examining and working through challenging or influential memories.

How can I help?

I can offer an opportunity for you to explore your feelings and issues to help you make decisions and actions that based around informed choices. Good counselling helps people build problem solving skills by helping you to clarify the issues, explore options, develop strategies and increase self-awareness.

It is a process of self-discovery and growth which can can help increase self-confidence, improve relationships, and enhance  emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual well-being.

What to expect

Each session is an hour long. I work with the issues you bring to the session ensuring it stays client focused.  If you find it difficult to talk through your problems, I can use other means of therapy to help you understand your thoughts and feelings such as drawing, sand therapy, or mapping out your thoughts - I will work with whatever approach is right for you.

It can be scary coming to counselling but the fact that you reading this means you have made the biggest step of all through deciding you need help. I hope that over time you and I will build a professional therapeutic relationship where you will feel comfortable and at ease to talk freely and openly about your problems.

Counselling can take place in a number of ways at a time to suit you. Face-to-face, isn't right for everyone so Skype/FaceTime or telephone counselling are all available.

Whatever medium you choose you can be assured that all sessions are safe, secure, confidential and non-judgemental.

clients often ask how many sessions will I need? This is a difficult one to answer as it depends on each individual. person but an average course is around six sessions.
